rex Posted November 25, 2008 (edited) (Disclaimer - I don't know shit about anything.)Me too! How could existence keep a record of your accumulations? Not really record keeping, more like an on-going process of keeping a wheel spinning. Bum Grasshopper Posted November 26, 2008 But what if you are doing deeds simply to get ahead? This is how I define "brownie points". Bringing doughnuts to work to impress your coworkers, giving the boss a gratuitous, undeserved compliment, speaking up to take credit for the sake of making themselves look good, doing good deeds only when someone is watching and the such. You know the type. Call me cynical, but time after time I have seen these brown nosers get the promotion or the perks of the job while us taoists sit back and smile at others getting credit for our work. I'd be lying if I said I never got pissed off watching ass kissers get all the breaks while decent folks get shit on (pardon the language). Some are genuine in their actions. In my society most are doing it for personal gain. In fact, I believe that we all must kiss a little ass and promote ourselves better than others just to survive in the job market. Are you doing it because you expect to get rewarded in some way? Or are you doing it because that is just your nature?
