ChiefGreenLeaf Posted November 4, 2008 So my problem is this, my body is kind of sick. I am getting sick enough to where it is affecting my emotional health and energy. I'm pretty sure I know what's wrong, but despite my efforts to improve I feel that i am making no progress and only getting worse. So if I give a diagnosis and anyone has advice, it would be very much appreciated. Here it goes...  Spleen Qi Defeciency - this is reflected through my symptoms of no appitite, abdominal distention, tierdness, weakness of limbs, loose stools  Yang Deficiency - expressed as pale face, weak voice, tierdness, lack of appitite, chilliness, no thirst loose stools  Damp Heat w/ lingering infection - easily develop skin sores and acne, bitter taste in mouth, fatigued, lack of energy, impatient and anxious, sickness often associated with emotional upset and food  Might I add that my liver doesn't feel to great either. I get angry easily, I can't stress enough the emotional issues. I have been on what I thought was a good diet, but now I just keep feeling worse with each day.  So my question is this, what foods, modes of cooking, herbs, and spices would help this kind of thing out? Any advice would be helpful because I am at a total loss.

I skipped vegetarianism and cut off carbs (meaning pasta rice bread potatoes).. vegetables are good, of course, although you should avoid too much raw stuff. At least for me eating proper fat seems very beneficial as it gives off energy slowly and doesn't raise blood sugar level, which is an issue if you have spleen/stomach deficiency. Check this http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/index.html . For me easily obtainable good fats I use a lot are butter, cream and coconut oil (the last is sooo good with lentils).  Proper food can definately help lots.. but we're all individuals so what's good for me might not be good for you so listen to your body. Also if you feel you're eating well and still feeling like crap, why not consult some knowing people (a MD and a TCM practitioner) and start some kind of cultivation. Spring forest qiqong is popular here for home study, I think, and if you're poor, it can be obtained without cost, too.. (did I say Demonoid? No, I think I didn't)  All the best

Your description sounds like you may have a Yang Deficiency with some Liver heat or Liver Qi Stagnation (the Kidneys and Liver are quite closely related). However, your pulse and tongue need to be factored in also, as does your age, "constitution" and your existing diet. If you simply google "Food Therapy" "Chinese" and "Yang Deficiency" you should get tons of results, but again, you cannot get a really accurate TCM diagnosis over the net, even the sound of your voice factors in. Good luck.
