On a serious note, I highly doubt that a TRUELY ENLIGHTENED individual would use a computer. Enlightenment, IMO is physical, emotional, spiritual and mental. Realization is not enlightenment

 

 

Maybe a Mac and not a PC?

It seems there are 3 forms of intelligence:

 

1) scientific Knowledge , experience ,common sense .. those stuff that the crowd know .

2) The realization /materialization of group 1) outside human brain : database, web server, AI , expert system..

3) Intelligence after attaining certain level of Enlightenment .

 

People who only understand groups 1) and 2) , no matter how hard they try , can't understand the significance and character of group 3) ; On the contrary , people who come out from group 3) can easily grasp the characteristics and content of group 1) & 2) .

If enlightenment means using a Mac then I'm screwed because I hate those things.

 

Why wouldn't they?

 

Can you really imagine a modern day Buddha using the computer? Tv and computers are worthless, the internet is like 99% porn or something like that, so IMO Buddha wouldnt watch tv or spend time on the internet.

Enlightenment, IMO, is the ultimate intelligence, the end all to end all

 

It depends on what the definition of enlightenment is.

 

You can reach enlightenment really quickly with a teacher pointing out what it is. That is what Dzogchen teachers immediatley do with their students.

 

But to obtain the illusory body or ja lus body takes some time.

 

I'm incapable of actually defining my belief and feeling on enlightenment. To say I'm on the same level as buddha or christ, is to say I'm enlightened.

I believe enlightenment is an emotional, mental, physical thing that happens all simultaneously. Not sure if that's the rainbow body or not but I dont think it's possible unless youve reached a mental state in whatever form of meditation you do but physically you have to be far along too, and emotionally steady. The mental triggers the physical and emotional but it's more or less simultaneous.

 

Not sure if that's what MP means or not but my views are probably similar

I dont see why not. Why would a modern day Buddha be precluded from using whatever tools might be at his disposal to more efficiently do his Buddha-thing?

 

Then again, I dont have a pre-formed picture in my head about what a Buddha is supposed to do or be or how to act (avoiding modern appliances, etc) - so you may be right.

Lol I can see it now...Buddha feeds the homeless, stops by the hospital and heals everyone then logs onto youtube LMFAO> Ok seriously though......can anyone answer, whose ever been to a real deal monastary, whether or not they have computers on site???

 

My whole thing is that ultimately technology is a downfall. We have way WAY more artifial light in the world than we used to and we also eat CRAP and are basically in a downward spiral. The computers, tv, etc are screwing us all mentally. Take cellphones for instance, all the kids have them knowadays and it's screwing up their writing because of all the txt msg.

i don't think there is one best way to find the tao.

 

what works for me is just being quiet most of the time. that seems to help.
