For dog lovers- becareful!

That's the EXACT reason you were given your own personal practice section the forum, so people won't HAVE to read through your "shit".

VERY WELL PUT!

I'm defending MTS on any accounts or support him, but there is a thing called

bad luck. Its real. However, I think the bad luck is stepping in poo.

I never really observed my luck afterwards or whether it was tied into

stepping into poo. Again, chinese have many beliefs. Some have merit

while others not.

I think the bad luck is really karma. You are

being paid back for stuff you did. Whether your bad luck continues

depends on the extent of your karma. Do good always,

treat people and animals with respect, and you will be ok. There

is truth to the saying.. Shit goes around.

Everything happens for a reason, its not random.

Dogs are loving creatures, that only want to please you. To me dogs are more

loving than humans in this day in age. I was in asia and saw a truck full

of dogs. I was heart-broken.

Dear Mak Tin Si,

I'm sorry you stepped on so many toes. As you probably already know a great deal of people in Western Culture choose to view dogs as part of the family. I myself do not currently have any dogs, but I was brought up with a number of them. By brought up I mean we had 21 dogs at any one time. So I can imagined in your mind this would be bad FU. Mak, Old China is dead, dog's today are viewed as food, etc. Anyhow, you never told me what part your from anyways. You know this stuff already.

Anyways, I hope there is someway a Taoist can live in commune with nature. How about, drug sniffing dogs, Search and rescue, and dogs for handicappers.

There is nothing to be sorry.

Stepping on TOO MANY toes, just like stepping on too many dog poo's, is not bad luck and can only be 'achieved' on purpose.

There is a proverb in chinese which sums it all:

人串門子惹是非,

狗串門子挨棒槌。

[if] One goes from door to door, [one will just] stir up troubles

[just as when] a dog goes from door to door, it gets beaten with (laundry) clubs

N'est pas ?

:)

PS: and by the way, dog is an auspicious animal in chinese culture and has been bred and lived with humans for thousand of years. When somebody accidentally steps on dog's poo, just like when somebody gets and unexpected lucky something, people will say "交狗屎運" which means something like "you have been lucky enough to step on a dog's poo". Popularly it refers to the fact that it is not that 'easy' to step on a poo so that person is 'special' or has a 'special day' - the same applies to various european countries.

大便, 小便 。。。Ai ai ai, tha't no way to speak for a REAL DAOIST

And remember, your quote said Dao is in piss and shit.

这个师傅可能帮助您。。。

Without his case study and example, I may not ever get to that stinky gem of wisdom...

对不起,M 师傅, we've learned somethings, you may need to learn one thing also...

Dao may be just a little bigger than your conceptions on it...

So, I'll go out to find some Dog Poo to study, to learn more about the Dao...

See ya

Whatever happened to reducing, taking away all that isn't essential, to get to the essential?

"To find truth, retreat from untruth"

With all these extra beliefs, it must be crowded in one's head.

Beliefs become lenses that our experience is filtered through.

Most are quite unnecessary.

To each their own :)

I thought Daoism was a path of simplicity, or maybe that is my belief <_<

Brother, Daoism is a path of simplicity. Do not let any amount of dog poo convince you otherwise. :)

yes you are right, pets can detecy many things in nature just like us human can do when we can communicate with the pre-heaven stage like in taoism training.

Without pets, where would humanity be? I was out at the beach today and almost everyone had a dog. Is

it the dog that gives the owner happiness or is it the owner that gives the dog happiness? or maybe both?

It looked like a mutual benefit to me.

I said TAOIST, not all people in china. You guys are really getting out of track here man. I just said about dog poo, now people are so off track to saying dogs are not good? what the..?

Look at that you sound like a real person :) Good stuff

This is what we DO here. Take a topic and discuss it from all angles, examine all the implications. Rather than just flooding facts for unquestioning belief. edit my fault you just gave a method to test the poo = bad luck hypothesis.

Eg from reading this, I don't believe stepping in dog poo is bad luck, I want to keep pets, therefor I don't want to be a religious taoist in your system

Note I didn't just say TAOIST because I feel Taoist is a bit more encompassing than your definition.

Students who really learn under the lineage will automatically FEEL the reason by themselves and know what to do and what to not do. Just like feeling of fire will burn your hands.

Mak Tin Si

Very true, definitely no hard feelings. It's cool to talk with you.

I hope we work out some sort of posting arrangement that doesn't drive you away. I appreciate your info on your system and beliefs.
