shontonga Posted January 9, 2009 I'm curious to know if there are any acupuncturist or students studying acupuncture here?  Interested and am studying but not a student... yet?  Am reading the Shang Han Lun right now? ... I think I might just hate it by the way, lol! easier to play on the internet!  There are others here though that are, both practitioners and students.  You? Are you a student or practicing?  Stay well, nice to meet you Dragonfire!  Shon  If you post this in the discussion section more folks will see and read it? Not as much traffic in the Lounge for some odd reason!
dragonfire Posted January 9, 2009 I'm a student. I want to know how they were able to complete school with all the energy they had. I'm finding it very challenging to focus in class. My energy seems to just go out when I'm not calm. It very tough when my mind is not calm. Been focusing on my breath in class to stay calm, but not sure how long I can do this for. Its very uncomfortable. This is just the winter too. When summer comes around and yang is high, I'm not sure what to do. My class mates are feeling it and even the instructor. Â Funny thing is I think I'm the rarity in the school with so much energy. Most students don't know anything about Chi here. Everyone around me coughs. I keep trying to seal it, but it keeps coming out. Â Not sure if I can complete the program anymore. Â If anybody has suggestions, I would appreciate it. I think I may be lacking some YIN. This may balance me out. However, I don't know if this will solve the energy problem. I will still have the energy.

I will still have the energy.  Hey  ya know, it sounds like a much better problem than what I usually hear from students being run down lethargic and sick without any energy. Good to have energy ... granted, not good if your about to jump out of your skin at any moment!  Heard a neat trick for "dropping" energy down here on this site. It sounded foolish so it naturally caught my eye!  "Picture a pat of butter on the top of your head. Your head is hot so the butter melts. Feel it melting."  Simple way to drop energy, lol. works sweetly.  Another thing is breathing can help you focus or energize you to the point of feeling like fireworks are going to shoot out of you at any moment! Find someone who really knows about breath work and can do some with you someone that can do it and watch you and maybe add some pointers. I know some tequniques but without seeing you or knowing you I can't recommend much other than to let your breath be relaxed? And even that shouldn't really be said with out knowing you/your body/your nature.  Talk to your teacher and instructors though. Not just one or two of them! Get opinions and see what they have to say. It's a great learning opertunity for you that you may even be able to take into your practice on down the line? Who knows! This could be a great thing! If you get diffrent answears or sugestions ask them why? Find out their thinking and reasons. Some go by feeling others will be able to share things in a more logical way.  Good luck though, I hope you feel better fast, dragonfire. And DO post this in the discussion part there are folks way far wiser and more experienced in this stuff than this wild child! ... or overly tired child ... it's 2 in the morning here???  Sweet dreams!  Shonton Ga
dragonfire Posted January 9, 2009 I think I just enlightened myself. I forgot the purpose of TCM is to prevent blockages. I think I am just going to send out love with my energy whereever I go. I won't try to hide it. I forgot my reason to enter TCM was to heal people. I wanted to develop super strong energy to heal people with my hands, but I think that is not necessary. Why should I limit my energy from people coming into the clinic for help. People can be healed by energy projection alone around you. Energy is not projected just from the hands. I realize a lot of people in class need healing. Going to project love in class and see what happens with all my energy. The key is to stop fighting the energy. Â If I get kicked out of school for this, o be it! There's always the monestary afterwards.
