Hugo_M Posted April 7, 2009   Imagine if there was a book that had concentration of all known magic knowledge or experiences by the high masters, if such a book out there? is some kind of book nr 1 of Magic?  Well friends i have search little:  I had read that Simon the Magus of the bible was a great "black art Magician" that he wrote 2 books that are now lost:  "The Four Quarters of the World and The Sermons of the Refuter"  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?searc...amp;version=31;  In the book The Magus by Francis Barrett we can read:  "Apuleius, in his Catalogue of all the most famous Magicians of Antiquity, with great justice places Zoroaster in the first rank, and proves him the most ancient of all"  see footnotes here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/grim/magus/ma254.htm  It seems the only words by Zoroaster today are found in the: Gathas:  http://www.amazon.com/Gathas-Zarathushtra-...2798&sr=1-8  Also inside the book: Grimoires: A History of Magic Books by Owen Davies we can read Zoroaster was the first Magician: http://www.amazon.com/Grimoires-History-Ma...p;sr=1-3#reader  6000 bce  Wow inside that book we read Noah had write a book but guess because the arc is gone so must the book to  Well many books of Moses are gone too, so i guess the greatest book of all it must have been from the greatest Magician of all Zoroaster but the book is gone so which is next? Maybe Solomon the one i always belived it was the greatest Magicians  Regards

rex Posted April 16, 2009 Thanks rex for the link it is a wonderful link You're welcome. It's a fascinating subject. Do you know the name of the book of this photo found in the link?: Looks like the Slayer's Bumper Book of Vampyres to me. It might come out as a coffee table retrospective TV tie-in for Christmas someday.  imagine that book in the shell I love fine book bindings too:   I like that the link you had send say: "Some had lofty ambitions to obtain wisdom from the "wisest of the wise"As long as the books don't turn out to be books of monsters with a Faustian destination:   "Cut is the branch that might have grown full straight, And burned is Apollo's laurel bough. That sometime grew within this learned man. Faustus is gone; regard his hellish fall. Whose fiendful fortune may exhort the wise, Only to wonder at unlawful things. Whose deepness doth entice such forward wits To practice more than heavenly power permits. Terminat horo diem; terminant auctor opus."  All the best Hugo. I don't know Hugo - I'll have to read Owen Davies's book to fathom the reasoning. Now that's good marketing, set up a mystery and curious readers will buy the book! Â Maybe the Sixth Book of Moses was more of a memory and reference aid with the bulk of the whys, wherefores and hows assumed as already given from oral tradition and other sources? Try these: http://periodfinebindings.typepad.com/guardian_angel/Nice!   Really EXQUISITE in one of these homepage we can read: "He was supposedly once a humble mortal being, the antediluvian patriarch Enoch. According to widely reported lore, Enoch earned such merit in the eyes of the Lord for his goodness and abilities as a scribe that he was taken to heaven, an event noted in the Book of Genesis (5:24). The Metatronic Cube is reputedly the first geometric symbol that every straight line and curve is born from, this has also become a great symbol of the Qabbalah -The Kabala is an ancient Hebrew mystical system of thought."  Man i must take a more deep good look at these homepages, they are really nice nice   The website does custom fine bindings of blank books for folks to write in their own material.
