Stigweard Posted March 17, 2009 These are great! Thanks Stig. What do folks think about making them a sticky? I realise that that could be controversial. But if you're a new person on here it could be worth having straight off the bat.  Kate  It would seem our benevolent, supreme overlord, Sean, has indeed honoured this thread by pinning it.
Birch Posted March 17, 2009 Oh cool! That happened just as or after I'd thought of it. Good on Sean! He is a very nice overlord;-) Â Kate
Guest artform Posted March 17, 2009 Thanks very much Stig! I agree with Kate, and thanks Sean for pinning this.  My question is about the translations into English of the Tao Te Ching. I have relied upon the 1990 translation by Victor H. Mair based on the then "recently discovered Ma-Wang-Tui manuscripts".  I am curious about any consensus on particular translations or translation/lineage links... and also personal perspectives. Perhaps this should actually be in the general forum discussion threads?  thanks again  artform

It also mentions Victor H. Mair.  <http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/laozi/#AppLao>

illyria Posted November 27, 2012 I'm a little overwhelmed. I've been reading through this thread and falling down the rabbit hole, but have found that many of the links are broken =( Are there any other good resources for someone new to everything?
Marblehead Posted November 27, 2012 I'm a little overwhelmed. I've been reading through this thread and falling down the rabbit hole, but have found that many of the links are broken =( Are there any other good resources for someone new to everything? Yeah, we had a board upgrade recently and I think some of the links got messed up.  Here is an excellent resource:  http://terebess.hu/english/lexikon/t.html  Many different philosophies and religions presented here. This particular link will take yo the the letter "T" where you will find many translations of the Tao Te Ching but check out the other alpha characters as well. Lots of good reading
takaaki Posted January 9, 2013 All the links seems to have expired. I cannot access them for more information about Taoism.
Stigweard Posted January 20, 2013 Crikey ... this thread is still pinned ... probably needs some house keeping
Sir Darius the Clairvoyent Posted November 24, 2023 I was searching a bit, and found someone saying that this «thing» or maybe «lack of thing» that daoism is, can not be described. Fair enough, putting reality in to concepts and words is reductive, but how can i, as an outsider, get a sense of something that can not be named, described or defined? I will take a look at the links at a later date, but will be busy for a while 🤓
Sir Darius the Clairvoyent Posted June 12 is this peak daoist thinking?
