Marblehead Posted March 2, 2010 I will be editting some of this style of music tomorrow:
soaring crane Posted March 3, 2010 yummMMmmmmm@ Wilson Pickett I'll be editing some singing bowl and gong recordings I made with a friend last year, I committed myself to finally getting the project done. It'll be a CD for friends and family, and for people who've attended our meditation evenings. It's kid of tough to do because the waves from the bowls are so overtone-rich that they quickly cause the speakers to hum. It's hard to get the perfect mix... Plus the lowest freq's from the gongs are missing, we have to re-record them with a better mic
Marblehead Posted March 3, 2010 Hi Soaring Crane, I know what you are talking about. I have a very old music edit program (Cool Edit '96) that I use. It allows me to modify the amplitude of any frequency range of a .wav file. (It has many other very useful capabilities as well.) I think the program is still available on the net for download and limited options use if you are interested. (But, the program is no longer supported because the owner sold the rights to somebody else.) Peace & Love!
soaring crane Posted March 3, 2010 d. (But, the program [CoolEdit] is no longer supported because the owner sold the rights to somebody else.) Peace & Love! Hey, MB - I know the program very well, thanks. Btw, you don't "sell" to Adobe, lol. Adobe decides if they want you or not, and then they take you. Ask MacroMedia My friend has a home studio and uses Cubase. Take a looksee at Audacity from the old Soundforge people: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/?lang=en It's pretty good and completely free. I think the multi-track section of CE is easier to work with but Audacity has better tools and just a more modern interface in general.
Tux Posted March 3, 2010 Lots of Boredoms, DRI, Sun Ra and Funkadelic. I've been getting more into hardcore and jazz lately--any good recommendations?

Yeah, someone told me about Audacity a while back and I down-loaded it. Nice program but it just felt cluncky in my hands so I stayed with CoolEdit. Yeah, I have some issues with Adobe but I won't talk about them. Peace & Love!
