Marblehead Posted April 1, 2011 Love T Rex. I think I have everything they recorded as well as a lot of stuff Marc did solo. Listening to Velvet Underground right now.
Mark Saltveit Posted April 2, 2011 Tom T: What can I say? Yes, that song is done in Jimmie Rodgers' style. A far as I know I have everything that Jimmie ever recorded (even his work with the Carter Family). Yes! I particularly like Merle Haggard's take on Jimmie Rodgers: Mule Skinner Blues No Hard Time Blues TB Blues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg6bSnR3hdM&feature=related J Rodgers Medley w Johnny Cash - very loose Also, not Jimmie Rodgers but great (and imitated by the Grateful Dead) Workin Man Blues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSn9pXJjRi0&feature=related
Marblehead Posted April 2, 2011 Yeah, Merle is another of the greats of country music who bacame popular after I had already switched to rock'n'roll music (1954 with Bill Haley's "Rock Around The Clock") so I never did follow any of his music. But even after that a country song would creep into my life. This is one example:

Marblehead Posted April 3, 2011 Ola! Here's another one from the same lady. Ola! Indeed! I have a CD that is a collection of the women of Tejano music from the 1950s and I'll tell you what, listening to those ladies sing makes me want to run down to southwest Texas and get me one of those pretty thing. (So far I have resisted the urge though.) But right now I am listening to Hank Snow. Great old-time country music!
