42 years ago today elvis aron pressley left us.

there is a difference between pre 1962 and post 1962 elvis

Actually, I make the cut at 1959. He still did get some really great some out after that but most of the songs after 1959 were commerical efforts where he wasn't allowed to present his roots.

I'm listening to this guy this morning:

Yep. Dem be da roots.

The only one of those artists I have in my collection is Leadbelly.

I can remember the first time I heard Odetta singing "Cotton Fields".

Just last week I watched a movie about Woody. David Carridine played the role.

Solid!

Okay. I like that one. The jazz was kept in the background where it belongs. Hehehe.

Seems like these cats ate their spinach! :D

Yeah. They didn't stay together long. I guess they couldn't decide if the wanted to do jazz or rock.

Yeah, Mean Mary did some great clawing. I was waiting for the hammer but it never came down.

Orange Blossom Special. Yep. Chubby Wise lived pretty close to where I live so I was able to see him many times. No one can do that song better than he did.

I have the cassette of his Waltz collection. Really great music.

Here's the banjo hammer man:

BTW This guy is pretty darned good too.

Amazing remix. Makes me smile, makes me cry, makes me smile again.

I would have remixed it again and reduce the drums during the vocals but that's just me. Nice song.

When I first saw Amy Lee years ago, I was amazed by the power of her voice. To sing in front of a Gothic Metal band and pull it off is awesome.

I tend to be all over the place musically (classical, rock, post-rock, punk, ambient, folk, electronica, jazz, avant-garde), but lately I've been getting into Wire. This tune (and energy) has been stuck in my head for quite some time:
