I love how the editor merged 'unrelated' activities into one unified process through their rhythms...

there is no movement without rhythm...

while all motion seemingly arises from

revolves about... and returns to

a point of stillness

.

Dude: Hey man, can I hang with you?

Other Dude:  Sure, but first you gotta put this hat on...

Dude:  Right on!

Ok, I'm spamming now I realize, so I'll ease off for a bit, but not until I share this next one (which is two).  My friends and i have done this for years.... putting on an album and then turning on some random movie, see if/how well they match up.

Start listening to this one first, then begin watching this one muted and enjoy the epic randomness.

LiJie playing Koyunbaba by Carlo Domeniconi.

Named after a Turkish saint and region in Turkey, it evokes the pastoral land and its spirit.

Koyunbaba literally means "sheep father" or shepherd.

The fourth movement rocks!    ... and starts ~8:15

(it's my favorite piece to play! Not quite as hard as it sounds...)

I know, Tool fans can be annoying. Being very guilty at some point, I realized the #1 rule of Fight Club applies. So I'll let this guy make a point or two. :D

Tibet and The Tribes of North America. Two cultures that were genocided and occupied by foreign aggressors. Nawang Khechog (Tibet) and R. Carlos Nakai (Navaho) blending musical traditions from both seamlessly.   Listening to this is like Swimming in Light. Thank you to them both for their collaboration. Such heart and presence, rings out and stirs resonance in my own awareness... such a gift!

thank you gentle men.

I got one about a year ago. Not quite the same as a handpan. Rather than pounding out sections to change pitch, this one has cut-outs - much cheaper and easier to make. Nice thing is it allows harmonics to be played but sounds a little more subdued than the original handpans.

This young musically gifted gal is captivating my heart places through my ear places.

Ha!  I just realized while writing this and it seems somehow significant that ear is the h(ear)t of the word heart...

through my ear, i may hear the heart of others.

Billie reminds me of The Living Sisters...

We saw them at a Santa Monica Music Festival.

My son was three at the time... and when they began to sing... his head snapped around so fast I thought he'd get whiplash.

He was transfixed.  He slowly walked to the foot of the stage and stared up not moving once, until their set was finished.

My Mother and Father were born in Eastern South Dakota, this one is for them.
