Consider yourself other than the mass of humanity at your own peril! Everyone is a manifestation of the same mystery, everyone is offering, I'm out of breath.

Hehehe. You might want to work on your breathing technique.

(Yes, I still flirt with the young ladies.)

"Tao has universal and eternal existence.

It has no need of any teacher to transmit it; what is transmitted by teachers is just the method by which one can personally experience this Tao."

If you think of yourselves as helpless and ineffectual, it is certain that you will create a despotic government to be your master. The wise despot, therefore, maintains among his subjects a popular sense that they are helpless and ineffectual.

To reject practice by saying, 'it is conceptual!' is the path of fools. A tendency of the inexperienced and something to be avoided. ~ Longchenpa

As for enlightenment, that's just for people who can't face reality.

"Consider this:

1. Would you ride in a car whose driver was on the consciousness-expanding "entheogenic" drug LSD?

And here's a bonus question:

2. Why does an "expanded consciousness" include the inability to operate a motor vehicle?

Don't know if this has already been posted but it's worth repeating if it has anyway : )

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Love all and hate none.

Mere talk of peace will avail you naught.

Mere talk of God and religion will not take you far.

Bring out all of the latent powers of your being and reveal the full magnificence of your immortal self.

Be surcharged with peace and joy,

And scatter them wherever you are and wherever you go.

Be a blazing fire of truth,

Be a beauteous blossom of love,

And be a soothing balm of peace.

With your spiritual light, dispel the darkness of ignorance;dissolve the clouds of discord and war and spread goodwill, peace, and harmony among the people.

Never seek any help, charity,or favors from anybody except God.

Never go to the courts of kings, but never refuse to bless and help the needy and the poor, the widow, and the orphan, if they come to your door.

This is your mission, to serve the people.

Carry it out dutifully and courageously, so that I, as your Pir-o-Murshid, may not be ashamed of any shortcomings on your part before the Almighty God and our holy predecessors in the Sufi order[silsilah] on the Day of Judgment.

The final discourse of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti

"To do a dull thing with style -- now, that's what I call art."

"The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship

is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later;

in a dictatorship, you don't have to waste your time voting."

"You begin saving the world by saving one man at a time.

All else is either grandiose romanticism or politics."

My teacher once told me (even if I did not!) "Don't call me "Master", even for laughin 'cause I'm not this one" yet I have so many things to learn from him. I'm so glad I met Tai Chi.

“He who thinks that God is not comprehended, by him God is comprehended; but he who thinks that God is comprehended knows him not. God is unknown to those who know him, and is known to those who do not know him at all.”

“For eternally and always there is only now, one and the same now; the present is the only thing that has no end.”

Alan Watts
