phantasy ideas = recycling of reality?

Considerung the background info I've learned lately, about the historical origins of the concepts of dragons, ghosts, wizards, comparing that to our current phantasy fiction that is commonly belived to be just that, I wonder - and this might be connected to the idea of having no choice in life, that all is just action and reaction - whether maybe everything that we put in the realm of phantasy, creativity and innovation is merely a recycling, a processing of past reality. Is there any idea we can have that can not - through diligent examination if necessary - be traced back to past real occurences, thus taking away the image of innovation?
