Easynow Posted May 8, 2009 Hello, I am making a note of things I consider possibly imbalanced in me, to take to the TCM practitioner in town tomorrow. Your opinions would also be interesting to read. Okay, I wonder if my Yin and my Yang are out of balance. Weak sense of masculinity. Cold extremities. Waking tired, low energy. Desire to meditate/introspect/hibernate. Sexual shame/fear. Sense of discomfort/blockage in abdomen. Weak erections, very rarely do I get 'morning wood'. Receding hairline at 22. A habit towards pleasing others over myself. Difficulties integrating and expressing anger, force, and lust. Also increasingly a couple of guys at work have been noting how 'girly' I appear lately. Especially since I reintroduced AYP mantra meditation, I get to a comfortable cool witness state and just want to stay there! Now, I'm aware these are things beyond the scope of accupuncture and herbs, and I am working on my issues, but I would be interested in hearing out whether accupuncture and chinese herbs may help me get my balance back. Chi Gung is not out of the question either - I think my system has been fried by different meditation techniques, negative sexual history (phimosis), and too many drugs. Good idea, you reckon? Also, any tips on finding a GOOD Accupuncturist? Any good questions to ask? I lack knowledge in it. Many thanks. JW

Chi Gung is not out of the question either - I think my system has been fried by different meditation techniques, negative sexual history (phimosis), and too many drugs. Abdominal blockage may be an energetic blockage. Typically this could be from childhood trauma, similar to JAK's boyfriend. You could also have energetic blockages in your root/sexual chakras. Particularly if you get cold feet, which could indicate energy cut off from your legs at your root.. You may also have kidney and liver blockages or weakness. Anger is associated with the liver and willpower (force) with the kidneys. Also, the kidneys store jing (lifeforce), which can be used for alchemy or sex - as well as supporting bone & hair growth.. So, my (totally) rough guess right now would be to resolve underlying issues to release your blockage(s) to restore circulation and replenish and strengthen your kidneys and liver. Also be sure to get plentiful sleep in the dark early.

I would say start storing some of that Yang energy in your head. Fill it up everyday until one day you feel like you cant put anymore in there and your yang energy starts to fall back down your spine. When that happens then you should circulate the energy from your head down your front channel. Through your minds eye, nose, tongue and swallow it. Then your heart center, solar plexus center and to your navel. I'm not know what all you know, but just in case, to get the yang energy, you gotta sexually excite yourself. Move that sperm or ching chi up your spine to your head. If you aren't having a hard time if ya know what I mean hehe watch a porn flick. There are technique to go about if things aren't getting stiff, but I don't know about them. As for myself, I think I'm in need of some Yin energy.
erdweir Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) You say you think the answer lies beyond acupuncture and herbs and you ask for tips on finding a good acupuncturist? Think about this contradiction. You are unsure as to how to proceed. open yourself up to more options. My hair was falling out last year, I was too stuck in my head. Doing chi gung helped, my hair stopped falling out and turning grey as well. But you say your system is too fried? What kind of drugs were you doing? drugs can seriously deplete the body's energy reserves and chi gung can replenish them. And you are also fried from too much meditation? and yet you found some inner calm from meditating. Another contradiction. The wrong kind of meditation can hurt you if you are not ready for it. If you have blockages and damage from drugs you should proceed carefully. I would guess you need something that will build up you energy slowly and gently. I also agree that a rough guess is that you kidneys might be weak. sexual vitality come from the kidneys. fear also resides in unhealthy kidneys. the adrenals sit right on top of the kidneys and are aversely affected by their weakness. hair loss is also a sign of weak kidneys and sexual vitality. what kind of abdominal blockage are we talking about? trailmaker Posted May 8, 2009 How often do you work out, i.e. break a good sweat? right - along with your other beneficial practices, are you including increasing muscle tone and cardiovascular workouts that are compatible with your cultivation of breathing techniques? just a thought - good tone, and non-controlled breathing optimize balance. like maybe pumping iron and getting a yang 'high'? same time endorphins kicking in with soothing yin force, negating the pain. gendao Posted May 8, 2009 My hair was falling out last year, I was too stuck in my head. Doing chi gung helped, my hair stopped falling out and turning grey as well.Cool, what kind of qigong did you do - and for how long per day? Also, I would not advise bringing more yang energy to your head. More likely, you are already too much in your head and burning your hair out. With weak or dry kidneys, you simply don't have enough water coolant to "water your lawn" on your head...or "grow wood" down below. So, this is like a dry lawn burning to a crisp in the hot sun. You probably need more yin water, not yang fire in your system. Something I need to figure out though is how to replenish yin water and kidney jing? Anybody know? erdweir Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) Cool, what kind of qigong did you do - and for how long per day? I was just doing the introductory Healing Tao stuff, microcosmic orbit, six healing sounds, and inner smile, together with grounding and so forth. My hair loss what brought on by heartbreak. I had been in a succession of ruinous relationships with fantastically beautiful younger women. Every time I got my guts stomped out by these vixens, I would fall into a depression and I would get more grey hairs and my hairline would thin a bit more. doing the Tao basics from Chia's books stabilized my emotions, stopped the grief and my hair thanked me. I was doing the meditations for at least two hours a day. also drinking, eating sugar and caffeine made my hair fall out. From the western perspective I would say i have a weak pancreas since all of those things mess with your blood sugar level and insulin is produced in the Isles of Langerhans inside the pancreas. My grandfather was also diabetic. Excess blood sugar leads to excess testosterone leads to excess skin oils leads to too much bacteria on the scalp leads to hair loss. Easynow Posted May 8, 2009 How often do you work out, i.e. break a good sweat? From a couple of months ago, I began weightlifting twice a week, and going to hatha yoga once a week. Not much cardio in there and my job is pretty sedentary. You say you think the answer lies beyond acupuncture and herbs and you ask for tips on finding a good acupuncturist? Think about this contradiction. You are unsure as to how to proceed. open yourself up to more options. Hey Erdweir. Yeah, it is just one avenue I am looking into. The sexual issues have their root in having an incredibly tight, unretractive foreskin when young, so I would feel nothing with my previous girlfriends. I was circumcised when 18, but had performance anxiety (coupled with shame from watching a lot of pornography and for my own sexual desires - I could not integrate 'sex' and 'love'). See - its a complex issue and one probably beyond accupuncture. I am going to the only centre in Europe that deals with this in person, with a combination of transpersonal therapy, energy clearing, and sexual partner surrogacy therapy. It will be deep work. I am hoping accupuncture, herbs, and chi gung may help to rebalance my system and support this process. My hair was falling out last year, I was too stuck in my head. Doing chi gung helped, my hair stopped falling out and turning grey as well. But you say your system is too fried? What kind of drugs were you doing? drugs can seriously deplete the body's energy reserves and chi gung can replenish them. Good on you with the hair! Alcohol, marijuana, MDMA, 2-CI, psilocybe mushrooms, salvia divinorum. I suspect the 2-ci had most effect, iodine in that there be.. Yeah, I used to push it too hard with some meditations and would get hardcore kriyas, emotional instability, etc., Yet calming meditation simply provides a very quiet, nice place.. and its comfortable. But when I get too into that 'witness' state, my entire perception of reality turns upside-down, and I fear for my own psyche/human/social integration. I become very quiet, withdrawn, anti-social, I just zone out more and more into this trance state. I also feel a kind of existential anxiety with this. Namely "sex", and anything to do with this subject. Also feeling 'needy', 'feminine', 'poor me', 'easily intimidated', 'no spine', 'walkover'. Sexually frustrated virgin kind of situation. Felt in the sacral and solar plexus regions. I would say I am still storing negativity towards my father, also.
erdweir Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) Good, thoughtful reflective answers, and good for you for opening up on a sensitive topic. I dont know what to recommend to you now though, the foreskin thing sounds rough, and performance anxiety is nasty. maybe read up on some taoist sexual practices? there are answers. If you are involved in such heavy therapy, do you really need more answers though? maybe what you need is patience... loading yourself up with more therapy when you are doing allot already might be pushing it. and maybe try to forgive your father, for whatever he did. believe me I know how hard that can be, I am still working on it myself, but try to put it behind you. just work on it, it takes time, and maybe the therapy will help with that too, it's all connected Edited May 8, 2009 by erdweir
Easynow Posted May 8, 2009 Thanks for the reply. The thing is this therapy is something I am only looking into now and may require a bit more time to get up and running. I really do think my nervous system has become more of a nervous system from all this stuff though, so I will go to the TCM place tomorrow. And consider Chi Kung. Any advice on telling a good accupuncturist/herbalist apart from a poor one? Thanks.
goldisheavy Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) Hello, I am making a note of things I consider possibly imbalanced in me, to take to the TCM practitioner in town tomorrow. Your opinions would also be interesting to read. Okay, I wonder if my Yin and my Yang are out of balance. Depends on the scales. You are the final judge though. Weak sense of masculinity. And you want ___? Some people are happy that way. Others are not. Are you happy with how you are, but want to be more average in terms of society? Or, are you unhappy with how you are? Cold extremities. This means your being is withdrawing from your body. It's a sign that you don't like being in this realm. You don't want to inhabit this place, so you are withdrawing, and extremities are the first things that get cold when you begin to withdraw. Waking tired, low energy. This can mean a few different things. Do you enjoy life? Do you have a purpose in life? When you wake up, do you have something you look forward to? Or do you wake up thinking, "Oh shit, I woke up... crap... not another day... not again... ok geez here we go again... blah" When a happy and content person wakes up, there is something they look forward to. It may not be a lot, but it has to be something. Without that something, energy will drop, because energy comes from intent. If you don't intend to do anything in the day, the energy will not appear. It could mean sleep is no longer enough to clear out your stress accumulation. If that's the case, you must cut some stress that occurs in the day. Stress can be a tricky thing to detect sometimes. Many people are very stressed but don't understand that they are. It's like they are numb to it because stressed is the only state they ever remember, so they can't conceive life could be any different. There are many ways to cut stress. Changing environment is one way. Changing your thinking process is another way. However, for the thinking process change to work, it has to be a radical change. If you just "think positive" that won't be enough. You'd have to change your thinking process in an important way and not just add some sugar on top, which is what positive thinking is, just meaningless sugar, something superficial. So if you know how to change your thinking pattern in a way that touches your very core, in a significant way, you can cut your stress that way. Otherwise the best option is to control your environment to some extent. Spend more time in the forest, on vacation, fishing, hicking, biking, in a different city, in a different job, surrounded with different friends, etc., all of the above, some of the above, whatever you can manage. Desire to meditate/introspect/hibernate. Yea, you're tired in a big way. It's obvious. Sexual shame/fear. This one can be tricky to overcome when you're assaulted from all sides by bigger issues like not wanting to wake up. On the other hand, this could be at the root of not wanting to wake up too. So the exact order in which to tackle the issues depends on your psychological structure and dynamics. Sense of discomfort/blockage in abdomen. Resisting life, pulling away from this realm. Weak erections, very rarely do I get 'morning wood'. Simple suggestion is to work on PC muscle. Just exercise it a little, without going overboard. Then relax. Erections happen in a state of relaxation. This might appear paradoxical, but it's true. If there is tension in the pelvic area, it inhibits the erection. Receding hairline at 22. A habit towards pleasing others over myself. Difficulties integrating and expressing anger, force, and lust. This has to do with externalizing authority too much. You don't believe that your word and thought are authoritative enough. This is especially a problem for a man, because a man is naturally more authoritative than a woman. Looking for external authorities can make you even more girly, so be judicious. This doesn't mean you shouldn't accept any advice, but it what it does mean is that you should weigh your own thoughts at least on par with all the advice you get, if not more. So let the advice become an extra side dish to your own plan of action. Don't take it as your main dish. You have to own life. But the thing is, if you ask externally to own it, no one can tell you how, because people don't want to go around making others stronger than they are themselves. People want to make others around them weaker to appear stronger themselves. At least most normal people. This is why most people disempower others in every way they can, covertly and overtly. They tell you why you can't do it yourself, why you need them, why you're not good enough, why you don't have what it takes, why you will fail and so on, and then they say, OK you have one CHANCE to succeed... you have to follow me, that's your best chance. So be very careful! Don't fall into this trap. Examine everything you are told and check: IS THIS EMPOWERING OR DISEMPOWERING ME? If it's not empower you, then flat out reject it. So what I am saying is that no one, or almost no one will just hand you real power. You will have to take it. That's the nature of it. If someone gives you power they can take it away, so it's not real power. And taking power is a big part of what being a man is. So you don't ask, like, "please give me power". You come over and take it and deal with the consequences. And the best way to do this is one little step at a time. Otherwise you risk a huge explosion in your face if you take too much too fast. Notice the tone of my post. I am saying things like "It's this, it's that, do this do that." That's not a very good way to explain things. A much better way is to ask questions, but then I have to ask you many questions and hear many of your answers, etc. This takes more time and is hard to do on a forum (as opposed to say IM or IRC, etc.). So please take everything I say with a grain of salt. Edited May 8, 2009 by goldisheavy
